You might encounter a situation where your peer attempts to join the session with you, but it has already ended on your side.
If your operating system (OS) has the wrong time set, countdown timers in Session may not work properly. This issue often happens when time synchronization is disabled, causing your local time to differ from the global time. As a result, sessions could be cut short or terminated earlier than expected.
Here's how to fix this by syncing your system’s time on different platforms.
Windows
-
Open Settings: Press
Windows + I
to open the Settings app. - Go to Time & Language: Select Time & Language and then choose Date & time from the side menu.
- Enable Time Sync: Toggle on Set time automatically. If needed, click Sync now to sync your time with the internet immediately.
macOS
- Open System Settings: Click the Apple logo and choose System Settings.
- Date & Time: Select General and then go to Date & Time.
- Set Time Automatically: Check the box for Set time and date automatically to sync with Apple’s time server.
Linux (Ubuntu)
- Open Settings: Click on the system menu in the upper-right corner and choose Settings > Details.
- Date & Time: Scroll to Date & Time.
- Enable Automatic Time: Toggle on Automatic Date & Time to sync your system time with the network time.
Android
- Open Settings: Go to the Settings app.
- System: Scroll down to System and tap Date & time.
- Enable Network Time: Toggle on Use network-provided time and Use network-provided time zone.
iOS
- Open Settings: Tap on the Settings app.
- Date & Time: Go to General and tap Date & Time.
- Enable Automatic Time: Turn on Set Automatically to sync with Apple’s servers.
